Daria in Interview Magazine

Hey Liipstik lovers...

For the past few days we have been SUPER, UBER, DUBER busy at a few shoots that you will get to see in the next coming weeks. And we promise these pictures are going to be FIRE....

Come on would we bring anything different??

Speaking of beautiful pictures, here are the images from Canadian supermodel Daria Werbowy’s controversial editorial shoot, called “Let’s Get Lost” for Interview Magazine’s May 2010 issue. It was shot by Mikael Jannsson and styled by Karen Kaiser and Elin Svahn.

In the spread Werbowy stars along 17 other up and coming black models in the modelling world like; male model Salieu Jalloh, Ajak Deng, Oraine Barrett, Raschelle Osbourne and many more.

All the models are oiled up, and showing off some flesh. And Daria herself is dressed in some hot swimsuits. The models all look like they just stepped off the set of Belly or out of a reggae party out of your moms basement.

The reason why some say the shoot is so controversial is because some people claim the images are racist. Writer Connie Wang for the fashion website Refinery 29 says, “From the differences in their dress (Daria’s in ethereal, angel-like gowns, the others are in knits and leathers) to their body language (A limp yet super-sexual Daria is the main focus, the others feel almost like props), the whole spread has a rather racist vibe that we can’t get down with despite the gorgeous art direction of the spread.”

What do you think??? Let us know you opinion of the spread. Email us at liipstik@gmail.com

For now, sit back, analyze and enjoy.

xoxo
