CFDA Awards

Last night at the Council of Fashion Designers of America gathered at the Lincoln Center in NYC for the 2010 CFDA awards ceremony. The CFDA awards, also known as the Academy Awards of fashion, honors the great and best in the world of design and fashion for the year.

This year Sarah Jessica Parker gave an honorary speech to tribute the late Alexander McQueen, which was followed by a fashion show with his designs. As well, supermodel Iman was recognized with the CFDA’s Fashion Icon honor, which is for “an individual whose signature style has had a profound influence on fashion.” In her speech Iman thanked her parents for her very long neck and said to her husband David Bowie “"Move over. You're not the only icon in the house."

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs

Menswear Designer of the Year: David Neville and Marcus Wainwright for rag & bone

Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexis Bittar

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Jason Wu

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Richard Chai

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Alexander Wang

Popular Vote: Ralph Lauren

Lifetime Achievement Award: Michael Kors
