New American Apparel Ads

American Apparel is known for all the controversy surrounding the franchise. If it's not news on the brand going bankrupt, or some cooky new info about CEO Dov Charney, you're definitely hearing news about the company one-of-a-kind ads.

Check out the newest advertisement from the L.A based clothing company in Vice Magazine. Instead of using real models they have opted for sex dolls. Yes, sex dolls. In true American Apparel fashion, there is of some nudity, a pair of naked breasts courtesy of a doll.

To be honest, I am not even bothered a little by this ad like I have been with AA ads in the past. Maybe it's because it's not a real boob or maybe I am just desensitized by the sex in their previous ads.

Let's see if this time around, with these new sex dolls ads, if sex really does sell.

American Apparel Saved From the Poor House

Several weeks ago, Liipstik reported that L.A based clothing company American Apparel was going out of business due to their debt problems. However since then, the tables have turned. CEO Dov Charney won't have to worry about filing his company for bankruptcy anymore.

American Appreal lenders, Lion Capital, have agreed to help out the company so they do not have to go out of business. So all thier money problems are over and you can stop holding your breath for their going out of business sale because it's never going to happen.

Lion Capital has invested tons of money in the company to ensure their financial stability in the unstable economy. Dov Charney continues to believe strongly in his company. He says, “Retail is hard right now. I’m not alone in this. You have to work for every dollar, you have to work on the merchandise, make sure the product mix is perfect and the allocation is right. It’s a tough market right now.”

Hey, I'm happy to hear the company will still have its doors open in the next few years. Let's just hope they don't face anymore troubles for the year.

American Apparel Apparently Broke?

L.A based clothing company, American Apparel might be closing their doors in the next year or so. AA stocks are going down and the company is losing a lot of financing. Meaning in the next few months the company may go broke. CEO Dov Charney said his company "may not have sufficient liquidity necessary to sustain operations for the next twelve months."

Since expanding and going public in 2007, the company has rapidly grown in popularity and has expanded to 19 countries and 260 stores. However store sales have dropped by 16% compared to this time last year and for the first 3 months of the year they have lost $5 - $7 million in operations.

I guess sex doesn't sell in this time around, since their very racy and sexually-charged ads can't help them get out of this economical deficient. Man, CEO Dov Charney can't catch a break. Earlier in the year, the American clothing company suffered from allegations of shoddy labor practices and now this!!!!!

All I want to know is, does this mean a sale is around the corner and if so when?

Poor ting. Literally.
