Loving your LBD

The temperature is rising and so should your hemlines. And with the beautiful weather coming up, it’s patio and cocktail party season and I know you ladies want to look your best. It could be dinner with your significant other or a night out on the town with your girls. Either way you want to look stylish, trendy and Liipstik ready.

The quick fashion fix to these questions is simple. It comes in four simple words; the little black dress.

The LBD is a blank canvas that’s simple, chic and can work for everyone. Not to mention you can add your own personal flare to your ensemble.

Here are three Liipstik tips to loving your LBD.

1. Adding TextureThe best way to give you LBD some depth is to add texture by exploring with different fabrics. Instead of just one fabric for your dress like cotton, silk, of chiffon, mix it up with some velets, feathers, suede, leathers and sheer fabrics. It adds dimensions, depth and shape to your outfit. Not to mention different fabics and mixing them up gives your outfit more ump... Your LBD is already beautiful, but by mixing fabrics is adds sex appeal and allows you to be creative. But remember, keep it effortless and chic.

2. Accessorize
Accessories are the key when wearing your little black dress. This is a great way to experiment with colourful shoes, a funky clutch, studs, chains, over-the-top necklaces, cuffs, rings and earrings. But that doesn’t mean to do all of them at the same time!!!!!!!!! This season chunky, statement jewellery and accessories are essentials in any fashionista’s wardrobe. The right accessory can take your simple look and transform it to a unique and standout from the crowd. It’s an affordable alternative because if you happen to reuse your black dress, they can give the outfit a whole different look the second time around.

3. Don't be afraid to show some skin
Just because Jay-Z talks about being decked out in “... all black everything” doesn’t mean cover yourself from head to toe in all black fabric. When wearing your LBD don’t be scared to show some skin. The key word there is SOME skin, not all! An all black outfit from head to toe can be harsh, but by showing some skin you won’t look like a nun. Whether you decide to go with a shorter hem line, a backless number or a plunging neckline it can work. Just don’t wear a short, plunging neckline, backless number all at once! We don’t want to look like JWoww from Jersey Shore. Just a subtle amount of skin in the right places can make your look go from drab to fab.
