DW by Kanye West

“I don’t get up on stage unless I really believe in something.” Kanye West.

On Saturday Kanye's debut womenswear spring/summer 2012 collection hit the runway in Paris.

The collection is called "DW by Kanye West." The "DW" represents Dr. Donda West in honour of his late mother.

Of course the show wouldn't be very Kanye-like without a star studded front row. Some of the celebs at the show were Ciara , Lindsey Lohan and star photog Terry Richardson.

The collection featured leathers, furs and fun prints. TOTALLY KANYE!

The line was stunning, but even though the line is for the spring/summer 2012 I think it is a little dark and heavy for spring. Compared to the other collections shown at fashion week it seemed pretty dark.

With the choice of fabrics like leathers, knits, furs it seemed to have a winter-feel. Even the heavy coats, sweaters and I feel hot just looking at it. Over all it looks more like a fall/winter collection to me.

The leathers, furs and knits will make me BURN up in the summer!

But regardless that might be where Kanye's head was at and he wanted to be dark. It's F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

The Countdown to the Kanye Collection

It's almost here.

The day we have all been waiting for.

The launch of Kanye West's womenswear collection, which will hit the runway in Paris tomorrow at 9:30pm.

There has been so much buzz around the fashion world about the Louis Vuitton Don's debut clothing line and first fashion show.

The clothes are being made inside a former nightclub in London called Turnmills and will probably be super expensive!

Mr. West didn't create the line on his own. He had help from friends in fashionable high places like; Harper’s Bazaar Australia fashion editor Christine Centenera, knitwear designer Louise Goldin, British fashion designer Katie Eary and students at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Whoa! That's a full roster!!

Earlier in the week, in preparation for the show Kanye did some last minute fabric shopping at London Trimmings, in the city's east-end. The dapper rapper handpicked zippers and fabrics and spent about £14,000, when you do the conversion it's nearly $22,000! When the owner of the shop asked Kanye why he was shopping for fabrics, Kanye responded, "I want to work from the ground upwards, I don't want to leave it to someone else." The picture above is of Kanye and the store owners.

I love how involved and devoted West has been to his collection. We all know he has a deep passion for fashion, so I'm sure you will see his love and dedication in every piece of the line. And I'm about 99.9 percent positive we'll see Kanye sporting some of the line too. After all, remember he did wear a Celine women's blouse during his performance at the Cochella Music Festival this past summer.

Here's a look at the invite.

As soon as we get pics, we will be sure to share them with you.

The Kanye Collection

As you all know, Kanye West has been talking about putting together a collection for many years. Now the line is finally set to debut during New York fashion week, but it's not happening in NYC. Unfortunately fashions will hit the catwalk in Paris, but during NYC fashion week. So, we'll have to wait a bit to see the full collection in North America.

It's rumored the line will feature knitwear, since Kanye is reportedly working with knitwear designer Louise Goldin. I'm sure it will feature bold colours, like his statement red suit from the 2010 MTV Awards, some patterns, fashionable and of course in Kanye fashion make a HUGE statement!

To be honest I'm not surprised the collection is showing in Paris before anywhere else in the world. He LOVES Paris and is always seen front row during Paris fashion week. I'm sure the French will say "Oui, oui. J'adore!" to Kanye's line.

Can't wait!
