The Kanye Collection

As you all know, Kanye West has been talking about putting together a collection for many years. Now the line is finally set to debut during New York fashion week, but it's not happening in NYC. Unfortunately fashions will hit the catwalk in Paris, but during NYC fashion week. So, we'll have to wait a bit to see the full collection in North America.

It's rumored the line will feature knitwear, since Kanye is reportedly working with knitwear designer Louise Goldin. I'm sure it will feature bold colours, like his statement red suit from the 2010 MTV Awards, some patterns, fashionable and of course in Kanye fashion make a HUGE statement!

To be honest I'm not surprised the collection is showing in Paris before anywhere else in the world. He LOVES Paris and is always seen front row during Paris fashion week. I'm sure the French will say "Oui, oui. J'adore!" to Kanye's line.

Can't wait!

Hip-Hop + Fashion = H.A.M

Music and fashion lovers, get ready for another fashion and hip-hop fuse.

All hip-hop and music fans can't wait until two of the industry's biggest names team up to create a one-of-a-kind album with a sound to match. Jay-Z and Kanye West are gearing up to release their album Watch the Throne, which still does not have a release date. In true hip-hop style and Kanye West swag, the album cover for the CD was designed by Givenchy designer, Riccardo Tisci, who also designed the album art for the single "H.A.M."

I knew Kanye, aka the Louis Vuitton Don, would enlist the help of fashion elite to help create his album cover, come on he wouldn't have it any other way! I love the cover, to me it looks like something hip-hop royalty would have for it's flag or coat of arms. This definitely represents Hova and Kanye, who are at the top of the rap game. The art includes stars, crowns, leaves and is in GOLD. It just scream hip-hop.

The album cover and the single cover for "H.A.M" look very similar. But I must say enjoy the album cover better. LOVE IT!

Hit or MIss? -- Kanye West Rocks Celine Blouse at the Coachella Music Festival

Seems nowadays the gender lines are slowly blurring it seems its slowly starting to be acceptable for men to dress and act more feminin. Kanye West is no stranger to this as he often rocks feminin pieces and puts his own spin on it.

At the Coachella festival this past weekend Kanye was seen sporting a Celine blouse which has definitely sparked a lot of talk around the blogsphere. To be honest although the top was made for a woman its androgynous enough that a dude could pull it off and get away with it. Kanye is no stranger to taking fashion risks and pushing the envelope with his style, with that said do you think this look is a hit or miss? Check below for video of Kanye performing "Power" at the show!

Kanye West School Update

** Post Update**

Earlier in the week, we reported that Kanye West might be heading back to school to hit the books at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where he has allegedly applied for the fashion master’s degree program.

Since the news broke, a rep from the college has confirmed Kanye will not be enrolling in their school. The rep told Vogue UK, "He isn't coming to study the MA course but he did visit the college regarding a separate issue last week."

So all you Kanye West fans, no need to panic. The fashionable rapper will not be trading in his mic for a cap and gown from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Kanye will still be a student of Hip Hop and will continue to make classic and timeless music and hits, while still managing to be the best dressed in the game.

I not just wonder what the separate issue Mr. West had to discuss at the school. Maybe he will be a prof!! ahah JUST A RUMOR!!!

Kanye West -- No Longer a College Dropout

Hip Hop's most dapper rapper, Kanye West, might be getting ready for his new collaboration across the pond. Kanye's passion for fashion might have him leaving the rap game for a minute to become a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where he has allegedly applied for the fashion master’s degree program.

According to British tabloid The Sun West has applied for the program and last Wednesday met with professor, Louise Wilson, to discuss the two-year program. A source close to West told the not so reliable The Sun, “Kanye spends a lot of time with fashion students and often hooks up with Central’s arty pupils when he is in London. Now that he has been interviewed, the school’s board will have to decide whether to allow him to start the MA fashion course later this year. They are saying he has been turned down for a place because his portfolio wasn’t up to standard.”

These are all rumors, so all you Kanye fans don’t get all sad, he will not he hanging up his hip hop hat anytime soon. At least I hope because I’m waiting for Kanye to announce his new tour. After that he can go to school. I don’t Kanye won’t be bad in the fashion program if he does go back to school since he’s pretty experienced in the fashion world. Besides him being front row for all the major Fall 2011 shows around the world, he has interned at The Gap, and was suppose to intern at Fendi, has designed sneakers for Louis Vuitton and many more. I can’t wait to see if the Louis Vuitton Don will not be a college dropout, won’t be late for registration, and finally graduate.

Last Friday was in Paris at the Vivienne Westwood and Maison Martin Margiela womenswear show sporting a Givenchy leopard print bomber with Balmain jeans. So cute and fashionable. Good luck Kanye.

Clever.

Liipstik's Top Fashion Makers of 2010 -- Kanye West

"Let's have a toast to the scumbags!" -- Kanye West

Let's be serious, this guy had a HELL of a year! With his latest album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" blowing up the charts and Kanye's outrageous sayings and quotes always on the tip of everyone's tongue, he's just the man!

There are so many reason's why for 2010 Liipstik has named Kanye West Freshman of the Year, we'll just break down a few:

(1) He's the Louis Vuitton Don, should I say anymore.

(2) In 2010, West released his first short film "Runaway." It was a very fashion-forward film, which also co-starred super model Selita Ebanks and his next video for his track "Monster" is said to be just as fashionable.

(3) Ever heard of "Christian Dior Denim Flow?" This guy loves fashion so much he named a song after the French label. In the track he named all his favorite and top models in the game! This guy is crazy about fashion and his love of clothes! Come on that screams dedication!

(4) From Milan, Paris, London to New York Kanye was sitting front row at all the biggest runways shows, sitting with the biggest names in fashion.

(5) For his 2011 tour Mr. West wants to team up with Balmain to design his tour costumes.

This list can go on and on. He has his sneaker called the air Yezzy and a sneaker for Louis Vuitton, this guy for sure has to be the Freshmen of the year. I really think Kanye took dressing to a new level for men. When he first came out, I remember boys in their baggy 4xxl tees with baggy pants and a fitted. Then West busted out into the scene and taught them how wearing tailored and form fitting clothes is better. He took the boys and made them dress like men.

Kanye made preppy cool..... i <3 nerds

LOVE HIM, ULTIMATE FRESHMAN!

Mr. West's "Christmas in Harlem"

Loves this song, has a street-holiday feel to it and its relatable, I mean it may not be Christmas in Harlem but it's definitely Christmas in T.O! 'Ye brought together some dope artists to jump on this track to make this a classic NY Christmas anthem.

Everyone always asks what Teyana Taylor does and apparently she's a singer! Loves the hook reminds me of last min shopping, hot cocoa, the smell of cinnamon and cold nights waiting for the bus. Lol I know they are all super random but those experiences were the first to pop into my head! Enjoy!

Kanye's A Monster

Here's the video trailer for Kayne's hit "Monster" featuring Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross. It's a bit eerie, but I still like what I see so far. 0o0o0o man. Can't wait to see the full video from Kanye, such a creative mind and very fashionable man! LOVE HIM!

In more Kanye West news, for his upcoming tour the rumor mill is spinning saying that Mr.West wants fashion house Balmain to design his stage looks. Hint Magazine reported that Balmain designer, Christophe Decarnin, will be remaking part of the fall 2010 women's collection just for Yezzy.

This seems like such a natural move for Kanye, since he's tres stylish and is such an amazing preforming, so of course he will need a tour wardrobe to match. Can you see Kanye in bold shoulder jackets, furs, sequins?? Some say he might be copying MJ or even channelling Prince with these looks. Your thoughts?

enjoy.

Kanye and Rihanna For Interview Magazine

For the December/January issue of Interview magazine, it's a reunion for the Roc-A-Fella La Familia.

The redheaded Rihanna graces the the cover of the issue. Inside you can find a fashion spread shot by photographer Mikael Jansson and an interview by her label mate Kanye West.

The name of the article is called “The Colorful Art of Being Rihanna" and for sure the images were colourful and fashionable, just in Rihanna-style. The interview and article by West was just as interesting. As a journalist, West asked questions like,"Do you know any famous people now?" and "How does it feel to know that you could have any man in the world. Or woman. How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?"

LOL. Like really Kanye? I think it's hilarious. Maybe because they are friends, a conventional interview was totally thrown out the window. But it's funny, I like those questions, I can't wait to see the issue.

Check out pictures from the spread.

MTV VMA 2010 -- Fashion Recap and Liipstik Approved!

Last night my ABSOLUTE favourite award show, the MTV Video Music Awards, took place at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. What I love about this award show is that it's a different experience every year and you never know what to expect.

My favourite thing about this year's show was the venue! From the carpet to the inside of the Nokia Theatre, everything looked so modern, fresh and futuristic. This year MTV decided to ditch the traditional red carpet and go for a white carpet. I LOVED!!! That was the best thing about the show. All the celebs literally looked like they were floating on clouds. It was really elegant and just different. Everyone just shined and stood out a bit more.

Unfortunately this year, the biggest surprise, besides Cher, was suppose to be Rihannah performing with Eminem. Ummm, I don't know about you, but that wasn't that much of a big surprise. Usually a big surprise for the VMA's is a music legend/icon performing or something like that. But Rih-Rih just wasn't it for me. Sorry!

The biggest surprise to me was the fashion or the lack there of. Of course Lady Gaga stole the show with her theatrical outfits. First she sported an Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 gown with shoes from his spring collection and topped with a gold feathered Philip Tracey hat. Then she switched into a black Giorgio Armani. Gaga finished off the night in her most dramatic outfit, her meat dress designed by Franc Fernandez. For Gaga her outfit was more of a political statement, then a waste of a good meal. The pop superstar said, "For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.” Either way, Gaga you and your fashions always have me on the edge of my seat.

But, overall I wasn't very impressed. To me, many of the ladies on the white carpet went for fashion choices that were very nice but predictable and safe. Don't get me wrong, the ladies still looked stunning and I would still borrow any of their dresses right off their back if they gave me the chance. But their outfits could not hold a candle to Gaga's fashion flame last night. Here are our top three fashion choices for the ladies.

1. America's Next Top Model Cycle 3 Winner, Eva Marcille in a sparkly dress paired with blue platform heels.

2. Ciara in Givenchy Fall 2010 Couture

3. California Girl, Katy Perry in a sheer one-shoulder black sequined embellished dress by Marchesa from the Fall 2010 collection.

For me, the men stole the show!! I think their fashion and swag totally outdid the ladies of the night. I think Kayne's line described the look for the guys at the show, "Let's have a toast to the Jerkoffs!" To me it's basically was saying, I don't care what you think, I'm going to do what I want and let's have toast to me. And that is what the boys did. Pharrell and Travie McCoy's relaxed, "I don't care," skater boy swag was flawless.

But Kanye and Pusha T really looked the cutest to me. No one expects to see Pusha in a coral blazer! No one. And he pulled it off so well. I actually said, "Oh, he looks so cute" when he made his debut during Kanye's performance. And Ye in his red pants and jacket, with deep black v-neck, gold chains and matching red sneakers screams SWAG!

And for their killer performance, undeniable fashion and killer swag Kayne and Pusha are our Liipstik Approved choices for the night.

Watch the performance here! "Let's toast to the scumbags!"
