2011 CFDA Awards Nominees Announced

Earlier in the week, the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) announced the nominations for their 2011 ceremony. CFDA president, Diane von Furstenberg, did the honours in the Mecca of fashion, New York City in a very fashionable manner. She announced the nominees standing on a Swarovski-encrusted podium at her studio in the Big Apple. The event is sponsored by the crystal company.

My favourite repeat nominee this year is Alexander Wang, who walked away with three prestigious nominations; womenswear and accessory designer of the year and Swarovski Award for Menswear. Another big award of the night is going to Mac Jacobs, who will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award. After the Louis Vuitton Creative Director heard the news, he sent Diane von Furstenberg an email stating his gratitude for the recognition. She said, "He's very happy, but he says it's only a half lifetime award because he's only halfway finished."

The CFDA awards are the Oscars of the fashion world, so these noms must mean so much to the designers and fashion elite up for the awards. A few months ago, I watch a fashion documentary on Alexander Wang, which followed him in preparation for his much-anticipated show for his Fall 2010 collection. Besides falling in love with his clothes and the entire collection, I fell in love with him as a designer. He's so laid back, and such a cool kid for the city. Not to mention, makes the most amazing clothes. So Alexander I'm rooting for you!

Loving all the warm colourful hues for Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W '11 collection Marc took inspirations from the seventies and paired cute platforms with socks which seems to be uber popular on the runways, especially for the last few seasons. Loving the combination of fun animal prints and velvet, colours are so rich and pop so well, its a solid collection for Marc once again, Kudos!

V Magazine goes Gaga

The latest issue of V Magazine is one for the fashion Gods. It features two of the most fashion forward people in the industry, Miss. Lady Gaga and Mr. Marc Jacobs.

The September issue cover was shot by world fashion photographer, Mario Testino. The issue is the publications special New York issue. It has to deal with everything and anything dealing with fashion and the arts in the Big Apple.

At first I did not even recognize Lady Gaga on the cover. Her body looks good and she's dressed in one of Marc's designs. My favourite part of the cover is the "V" made out of chewed gum. A perfect New York staple. It's cute.

Video Fab -- Marc Jacobs Talks BANG!

Here's a quick interview of Marc Jacobs discussing his newest fragrance for men called BANG! He talks about his inspirations for the scents chosen as well as the reason behind him becoming the spokes model for his fragrance. Can't wait to smell some BANG! Lol.

Random thought, I just realized they don't include the tear out perfume samples in magazines anymore, I wonder if Marc will restart that trend, who doesn't love rubbing the paper on their skin to smell like the scent lol.

Wanna take a look at some of fashions freshest and newest faces? Marc Jacobs sure does. During his Marc by Marc Jacobs fittings for the Fall/Winter show, photographer Chadwick Tyler captured film of some of the new models getting ready to explode on the fashion scene.

Every season, we're introduced to new talent and I'm always curious and excited to see who will be the next runway and fashion star. And from watching this video, I can say I'm excited to see new model Hannah Holman at work (@ the 0:05 mark)
