Liipstik lover and friend, Blake Carrington, is one of Toronto's most-talented and stylish rappers.
I have always been a fan of Blake's and I was super happy to find out my FAVOURITE track "Fresh(er than the rest)” has a video. The track also is blessed by Toronto's own Rich Kidd. No lie, I have had a thing for this song for a long time now and it has been on repeat many nights. I think it is a perfect track for the summer becasue the beat is relaxing, fun and hip, just like Blake.
The video was shot in L.A and has a few special guest apparences from E-40 to Talib Kweli to Shock G (Digital Underground) and many more faces.
This is a perfect song for a nice summer day like today!!!
Check out Liipstik Approved, Blake Carrington!

Liipstik Approved: Shaq
We have a Liipstik EXCLUSIVE for all you liipstik lovers and freshmen. A few weeks back I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with 18-year-old rap phenom, Shaq, to talk about his upcoming mixtape "Top Prospect" dropping in June. He's been getting a lot of buzz in the Toronto rap community and even down south.
Shaq has a great, young, fun and unique sound and a super cute style to match. You know what that means right? Shaq is the perfect fit for a Liipstik Freshmen, which automatically makes him Liipstik Approved. He's super talented and I know he will go far. I can't wait to hear the final mixtape and I know he will be a HUGE success.
Check out the video to learn more about Toronto's own, Shaq.

Arizona Muse works it out in Slow mo' for YSL
There is something about a video ad campaign that always finds a wayto captivate me. Regular ad campaigns are nice and can get super creative but its really hard to see all aspects of a garment and how it moves by just looking at a picture. These video campaigns are creative and innovative and helps the consumer get a real feel of the pieces plus it also just looks good. Here is a video ad campaign for YSL's S/S 2011 collection, featuring Arizona Muse She looks stunning and she is definitely a face to watch this season. Janelle Monae's "Mushrooms and Roses" fits perfectly with the mood of the video and definitely conveys that hypnotic vibe that I get from the ad, enjoy!

New Music -- KING "The Story"

The group consists of twins Paris and Amber Strother and Anita Bias who write and produce their own music, talk about talented! Their sound has an old school vibe to it, reminds me of something similar to the sound of Sly and the Family Stone but with a modern jazzy twist to it. My idea of a great song is one where after 4 days of listening to it straight I don't get tired of it and this song has definitely accomplished that. These ladies are the ones to watch in my opinion, check the track below!!

Liipstik Approved -- The Oscars

Let's just get right to it! The juicy and the best part of the night, the best dressed. For the Oscars, the best of the best come out and I must say many stars did not disappoint. The one thing I found myself saying more and more this red carpet was, "OMG that's my wedding dress!" or "Oh, imagine that dress in white!" So here's Liipstik's best dressed and the Liipstik Approved look of the night.

The night's best dressed look goes to, Cate Blanchett, HANDS DOWN. The reason why this dress wins Liipstik's Approved look of the night is because it's more than just a gown, it's a piece of art. Cate wore a Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture gown and it was a show stopper. The dress was a perfect fusion of modern art and a classic gown in one. The lilac gown was embroidered with white pearl and yellow beading, which I think added a beautiful contrast to the gown. It honestly amazing and there really isn't mush more to say then wow!
I heart and that's why Cate is Liipstik's Approved look of the night.

Here's a look at some of Liipstik's other fave looks of the night.

Here is model Camila Alves in a beautiful black gown. I really don't know if it's her golden bronzed skin, her pretty face, or the dress that I love the most. But all together, the work looks. The jewels are simple, the middle part low bun is fab and I LOVE IT.
WEDDING DRESS ALERT!!!!!

Sandra Bullock wore a beautiful red Vera Wang gown this year to the Academy Awards. Even though she was not nominated this year, but she def stole the show. A lot of people are not fans of red dresses on the red carpet, just because they might look to matchy-matchy, but it works here. The whole look was really soft; her makeup was natural, her hair was softly pulled back and she had a small splash of colour on her lips. It was simple and classic, and I'm a fan.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab. I love this gown. The "Black Swan" actress came in a lavender, lace and chiffon Elie Saab number that just screams romantic, soft, sexy, elegant and still makes a statement. I love the colour, I love the fact that the gown still is young, sexy and just right for the occasion. Everything about it works. This is one of my wedding dress options, of course in white though.

Calvin Klein you have done it again and again. And tonight is not an exception. Both Jennifer Lawrence and Gwyneth Paltrow sported gowns by the American designer. Both ladies dawned sleek, simple, minimalist, sophisticated and modern gowns for the night in true Klein fashion.
Jennifer went for a red CK gown. She kept it uber simple with a gold bracelet and gold clutch, big flowy sex hair and a smokey eye. Very SEXY! LOVED it!
Gwyneth went for a metallic gown with a Louis Vuitton brooch and earrings. What I loved about this look were her earrings, it really added something to the look.
I LOVE CALVIN KLEIN. My style is really simple, easy, classic and chic, just like Calvin. And this isn't just a shout out to get free gear either. lol

Hailee Steinfeld has been killing it this award show season. Can you believe she is only 14-years-old? For the night she wore a Marchesa gown, which she helped design. The best thing about this look, it's age appropriate and she looks so cute. If she helped design the gown, she is def a fashion star in the making.
Let us know what you think.

CK One Ad Campaign

“It’s a great evolution of the original campaign,” CKI president and chief executive officer Tom Murry said. “It’s what the original campaign and the DNA of ck one stood for, but made relevant and current.” … There are four different iterations — for Jeans, Underwear, Fragrance and one for all categories — with more than 60 differently edited variations, some of which specifically target Asia. A key purpose is to drive traffic to ckone.com, which offers profiles of the cast and background content, and lets visitors upload their own ck one video versions"
Seems like they've put a lot of creative thought and financial backing behind this new campaign, can Calvin Klein come back on top?

Liipstik Approved -- Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W 2011

Marc by Marc Jacobs NYFW F/W '11 <3
Loving all the warm colourful hues for Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W '11 collection Marc took inspirations from the seventies and paired cute platforms with socks which seems to be uber popular on the runways, especially for the last few seasons. Loving the combination of fun animal prints and velvet, colours are so rich and pop so well, its a solid collection for Marc once again, Kudos!

The Grammy Awards -- Liipstik Approved Edition

On Grammy night call it G.O.O.D. family night
Celebrate tonight, oh, it's alright, it's alright, yeah" -- DJ Khaled Grammy Family (2007)
Last night at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in L.A, the music industry's biggest stars gathered to celebrate the most talented and creative artists in music today. The Grammy's is the biggest night in music and I have waited all year to see the great, unique and classic performance that happen during the show. And of course, I have been just as eager to see the fashions for the 2011 show.
This year, I was not majorly impressed with the individual fashions of some stars on the carpet. Either celebs had one or two elements of their look I loved or I hated the look from head-to-toe. No one really had the fully package of that "it" factor. But one thing, celeb family at the Grammy's had their fashion down to a "t." Some celebs either went went with a date or solo, but this year many decided to make this a family affair. Here are the top three fam fashions of the night.
Toronto's very own Drake decided to bring along his mother, Sandi, for his big night at the Grammy's. The pair wore matching black ensembles. How cute. I would have love to seen a bit of colour in either of their outfits, but either way they look uber elegant and ready to have a good night.

The Smith's are the ultimate fashionable family. Momma and papa, Jada and Will, not only passed down their good looks, the fashion gene came along with it. Willow and Jaden are two of the best dressed kids in the industry and it's easy to see where they got it from. The best thing about the looks from the Smith family at the Grammy's was in all their outfits you could totally see their personalities shine.
Will keep it classy and clean in a black Dolce and Gabana tux, while Jada sported a short silver gown showing off her killer legs. Son Jaden joined Justin Bieber on stage for a performance sporting a red shirt, leather jacket, cornrows and leopard pants. And the youngest of the Smith clan, Willow, rocked platform shoes, brown pants with some sort of cape and a very interesting purse. Very Unique.

The most fashionable family for the night goes to Katy Perry, her grammy and hubby Russell. All three wore matching gray outfits designed by Armani. The best part out all three of the outfits was Katy's grandmother's bejeweled cane! A bejeweled cane, they automatically have to be the best dressed family and Liipstik's Approved look for the night. Her grandmother was celebrating her 90th birthday and got a special invite to the event. How amazing! Looking that great at 90-years-old, is so beautiful. My favourite quote of the night from Perry, "If I don't go home with any Grammys, I still go home with my Grammy." Don't forget Katy, you also go home Liipstik Approved.

Wale "The Break Up Song"

"The Break-up Song" video basically holds a mirror up to a relationship and shows the contrast between what a relationship should be like and the actual reality of what the relationship is. I think its perfect because a lot of single folk get depressed around this time thinking everyone is in love when a good portion of them are putting up a front and are actually unhappy. Valentines day or not this happens all the time, its called keeping up appearances. I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade and not saying break-up if your relationship is less than perfect, I want EVERYONE to be happy whether they're single or taken! Just realize sometimes the grass isn't as green on the other side as it seems. Take the song in and enjoy!

Liipstik at the SAG Awards
Last night in L.A, stars of the big and small screen gathered for the 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the last big event right before the Oscars. So you know, celebs stepped out draped in the finest jewels, jems, heels and outfits. So of course like all award shows we're going to tell you our best dressed Liipstik picks of the night.
Here are the nominees:

"Conviction" starlet, Hilary Swank in Versace gown. The one-shoulder chiffon nude gown was filled with crystal details and Swank paired the dress with a gold clutch. She looks so classy and sexy at the same time, totally capturing the essence of Versace and Donatella's creations

Rosario Dawson looked stunning in a yellow J.Mendel creation that she wore with beautiful jade earrings by Susie Fox Jewelry. The best thing about this fit is you can tell that Rosario is loving her look and having fun. I can't blame her, she looks amazing and uber cute.

Pretty in pink indeed. Angie Harmon looked like a beautiful pink swan in her pink feathered gown. I think I just have an OBSESSION with feathers because again I am brainstorming my next feathered creation. Angie was in a beautiful her ultra feminine Monique Lhuillier gown. She looked like a total princess and it worked for her. She kept the accessories and makeup very simple.

January Jones of "Mad Men" wasn't seen on the carpet in Versace this time around. Jones opted for a gold lace and black sheer Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 201l. This look is a total turn around from her Golden Globes gown and I LOVE IT. It shows her versatility and her willingness to explore fashion, but of course always staying true to her old Hollywood glam look. I'm a fan!

"Black Swan" Mila Kunis stayed colourful in a Alexander McQueen Resort 2010 sweetheart printed gown. Usually I am not a fan of red (I actually loathe the colour red), but because of the print I love this gown. Maybe it's because Valentine's day is right around the corner, but I love the romantic, flowly, dramatic feeling of the gown. Kunis paired the look with Cartier jewels. This is a good look for Kunis, so far she has been a hit on all the red carpets this year. Kudos Kunis.

"Glee" star Heather Morris looks stunning in her peach, crystal-embroidered bodice gown by Romona Keveza. This is the best I have ever seen Heather look. I think maybe because every time I look at her I automatically see her character "Brittany" and nothing else. But tonight she definitely stepped out of Brit's shadow. Heather looked so mature and beautiful and this makes me want to see more fabulous looks from her.
But this time around we are going to let you, the Liipstik lovers on the world wide web, choose the Liipstik Approved look of the night.
Let us know.
