Elle's Women In Music

The Women of Music issue of the US version of Elle Magazine is probably my favourite issue every year. The reason being because it brings together two of the biggest loves of my life, music and fashion. The only thing missing from this issue to make my year is candy. Because let's be honest, Candy makes everything perfect! For the May 2011 publication, No Doubt singer and L.A.M.B designer Gwen Stefani graces the cover of the coveted issue. Stefani looks stunning in a Givenchy Pre-Fall 2011 collection dress made by Riccardo Tisci.

In the mag, Stefani talks about making music, writing, her marriage and other popstars like Rih-Rih, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. The blonde bombshell also talks about performing while preggers saying, “It was horrible. Certain songs would make me want to puke. You feel pretty gross when you are first pregnant. You don’t feel cute, you feel disgusting. You’re getting fat. It was hard.”

Also the issue features hip hop's leading lady Nicki Minaj and music. Nicki looks gorg a black and white portrait where she is sporting a Mark Fast knit minidress, a Maison Martin Margiela bodysuit, and suede Guiseppe Zanotti wedge boots. Nicki tells Elle about what it's like to be a female rapper in a predominately male industry, “I always wanted to play with the boys,” she tells the magazine. “I didn’t want to be a pawn in their game or have a sidekick role. I wanted to be more of a lead character—a superhero.”

You can also see music rookie, Willow Smith in the issue gushing about her upcoming debut album saying, It’s going to be a party beat. I think you’re gonna like it!” The magazine is filled with the biggest females in the music industry this year. You'll also see, Liipstik LOVE, Adele, Feist, Florence Welch and Jennifer Husdon. I love that Elle is embracing some of the strongest, most talented and unique female music stars in the world and giving them time to shine! LOVES IT! The issue is available on newsstands April 12th. Check out some pics from the issue below.

NIcki MInaj for V Magazine

For those of you who haven't seen the entire spread from Nicki Minaj's V magazine spread we got it here for you. We all know Nicki is crazy and V magazine definitely captured that side of her personality in the spread. Right now Nicki is the #1 female rapper in the game even Kanye West acknowledges that saying that she is “the scariest artist in the game right now—she has the most potential to be the number two rapper of all time.”

I can't even front I've always loved Nicki MInaj and her track "Fly" featuring Rihanna is my jam! Both females filmed the video to that song last week and I can't wait till it drops, please believe when its released on the Internet that we will post it up for you guys! For now, enjoy Nicki Minaj's fashion spread!

AMA Edition -- Liipstik Approved

Last night in L.A music stars gathered for the 2010 American Music Awards. Usually I am very excited for award shows, but unfortunately this one was a BIG BORE! It was three hours of nothing. Nothing about the whole award ceremony had that wow factor. The only thing that was keeping me interested in watching the show was hopes of seeing some FAB fashions.

And there were some glimpses of hope. It was a tie for the best look of the night. One of my favourites of the night goes to Jada Pinkett-Smith in Emilio Pucci Spring 2011 with a gold bodice. The best part about the ensemble was the it was custom-made for the starlet. She paired the gown with Louboutin heels and gold glitter clutch. Lately, Jada has been stepping it up with her fashion and I'm a fan. And for her one-of-a-kind look, Jada is Liipstik's Approved look of the night.

Rihanna ALWAYS looks fab, so it's no wonder she's the other contender for best dressed look of the night. Rihanna is decked out in Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture. I think it was the combination of her with her hair and the matching scarlet sheer floral gown. Either way she stood out from the pack. Rih Rih went for a more sophisticated and sexy look, but still took a fashion risk and was fearless. LOVES IT!

A lot of ladies went for a shorter hemline than the traditional evening gown. They wore cute short cocktail dresses, which are the GREAT, but is a safe alternative for a music award show. Here are the nights beautiful cocktail dress cuties.

Taylor Swift's dress is safe, but what really made this look pop was her new hair doo. I like the bangs. But do you think it's a wig? I don't know, but either way Swift looks so mature and fashionable and finally doesn't look like a little girl with her blonde ringlets playing dress up. She's in a Collette Dinnigan embellished dress paired with Jimmy Choo shoes.

Jessica Alba always looks sexy and sultry.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry. I'm really such a lady." Nicki sure does look like a lady in this dress. She's in Manish Arora Spring 2011 dress with Christian Louboutin heels to finish the look. Even though Nicki's bum isn't out, the outfit still screams her in every sense. It's colourful and fun and really is a piece of art.

Miley Cyrus is in Marchesa Spring 2011. She looks stunning and so cute. I like this look on the teen.

Miss Keri Baby! I just really love her hair colour!

Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas in Falguni and Shane Peacock, designers out of India. I really like the dramatic strong shoulder.

Christina Milian, great post-baby bod!

Worst dressed of the night goes to crazy popstar Ke$ha. I think this girl literally just rolls around in garbage and glitters all night. And if you pay close attention to her face, she has studded EYEBROWS! Yes, eyebrows! She doesn't have good friends if they would let her leave the house like this. POOR TING!
